September 17. Our friends in the media are rightfully busy chasing important stories like the just uncovered plan by our Government to chop down mangrove in San Pedro in order to give out land for votes (more on this later). So we’ll break this story: Buc-ee’s is coming to Belize! A local fruit vendor gave us this plastic bag. It means they’re expanding to Belize, right? We reached out to Buc-ee’s & they had no comment. (That usually means yes, right?) Speaking of brands, y’all remember the Subway in Belize City? If we HAD to accept 1 US brand in Belize, what would you want? Best answer wins a t-shirt.
Here’s a picture of the space above our bar. This space belongs to the Sunbreeze Hotel but it is available for rent for events at Blue Water Grill, such as wedding receptions, cocktail parties, rehearsal dinners, etc. For more information, send an inquiry via our contact form.
September 12. Domestic violence has been in the news in the States alot lately. Here’s a little known secret: violence against women is just as big of a problem in Belize as it is in the States. In fact, the problem might even be worse here. And don’t think that the issue is only within the immigrant community or among the poor or uneducated. We see it here in all walks of life. Some people are better at sweeping it under the rug than others, that’s all. We hope that by calling attention to the problem & challenging our fellow Belizean men to stop hitting women, we can make a small difference. Remember, the relevant question in domestic violence is “Why did he do it?” and not “Why did she stay?”.
August 31. Here’s our newspaper ad. And tonight’s specials, including a lobster on saffron risotto. If you look closely, you’ll see that we close on September 1st & reopen on September 22nd. And you’ll see the VERY important reason why Wine de Vine will NOT close. See you tonight. And then see you again in a few weeks!
August 29. We say this every time there’s a long weekend in the States. But some of y’all still don’t get it. So, here it is again: the view at your uncle’s backyard BBQ may be alright but you’d have a better view & a better time if you came to Belize instead. Tonight’s special: Lobster & shrimp chimichanga smothered in a smoky ranchero sauce & a habanero crema with black beans & Spanish rice on the side 50. Plus live reggae music.
